Text messaging (SMS) terms

Getavay

Getavay is an assistant you text. Avay sends messages to travelers who have created an account and given us their mobile number. This page describes what those messages are, how you opt in and out, and what we do with your number and your consent.

Who receives messages

Only people who created a Getavay account and gave us their own mobile number. Nobody else is enrolled, and we do not buy, rent or import phone numbers from anyone.

How you opt in

Consent is given on the sign-up form at getavay.app/signup. The number and the channel are typed by the traveler, and the disclosure sits directly above the button that creates the account. The form looks exactly as below.

Where should Avay text you?
Text (SMS)WhatsApp

By creating an account you agree to receive trip messages from Avay at this number, on the channel you chose. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.

Preview only. The working form is at getavay.app/signup.

The number is then verified before Avay uses it: we text a six digit code, and it expires in 10 minutes. A number that is never verified never receives anything else.

What we send

A verification code when you sign up. One welcome message from Avay when your trip is set up, so the number is saved in your phone as Getavay. After that, replies to messages you send Avay, and alerts about the trip you paid for: flight and gate changes, check-in reminders, itinerary reminders, weather that affects a plan, and nearby suggestions while you are there.

Every one of those alerts can be turned off individually on your account page. We do not send marketing texts.

Your Getavay code is 123456. It expires in 10 minutes. This is the number Avay will text you from. Hey Dionte, I'm Avay. I'll be with you for Rome, 12 to 19 May. Text me here whenever you need something. Reply STOP to opt out.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You receive a verification code and a welcome message, then messages during your trip: replies when you text Avay, and alerts when something about your trip changes. Getavay is sold per trip, so messages stop when the trip ends.

Cost

Getavay does not charge for the messages themselves. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan and carrier.

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message and Avay stops immediately. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END and QUIT work the same way. Avay confirms once:

Got it, you're unsubscribed from Getavay messages. Reply START if you want me back.

You can opt back in at any time by replying START, and Avay replies:

You're back on. Text me anytime during your trip.

Opting out of messages does not close your account or refund a trip. You keep using Getavay on the web.

How to get help

Reply HELP to any message, or write to support@getavay.com. Avay is the travel assistant, not the support line: questions about billing or your account should go to that address, or through the contact page.

Carriers

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

What we do with your opt-in data

Your mobile number and your consent to receive messages are used only to send the messages described on this page.

The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent are not sold, shared or transferred to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The full terms are in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
