Privacy Policy
Last updated September 7, 2026
What Getavay collects, why we collect it, who it goes to, and how to get rid of it. Written plainly, because a privacy policy nobody reads protects nobody.
This page is a template. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should be reviewed by counsel before Getavay launches to the public.
Information we collect
Account details: your first name, email address, password and mobile number. If you add a WhatsApp number, we hold that too. If you upload an account photo, we hold that photo.
Trip details: the destination and dates you enter, and any flight, hotel and itinerary information you add. This is the information Avay needs to be useful.
Messages: what you send Avay and what Avay sends you, on the web, by SMS, by MMS and on WhatsApp, along with delivery information from the carrier such as whether a message arrived.
Location: only when you give it. That means the location your browser shares if you allow it on the Explore map, and any place you tell Avay you are. We do not track your device in the background.
Payment details: Stripe processes your card and tells us the amount, the plan and whether it succeeded. We never see or store your full card number.
Technical information: basic log data such as your IP address, browser and the pages you open, used to keep the service running and secure.
How we use your information
To run the service: to create your account, take payment for a trip, and let Avay answer you with your own flights, hotel and plans in mind.
To message you about your trip: replies to your questions, and reminders such as check-in opening, gate changes, hotel checkout and weather worth knowing about.
To improve reliability and safety: to find faults, prevent abuse, and keep accounts secure.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Text and WhatsApp opt-in data
Giving us your mobile number and continuing through sign-up is your consent to receive trip messages from Avay at that number.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party for marketing purposes, and are not sold. They are used only to deliver the messages you asked for, through the carrier that sends them.
Reply STOP at any time to stop automated messages to that number, START to begin again, and HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply and message frequency varies with your trip.
Your trip data and your conversation with Avay
Your messages are stored so the conversation makes sense over time and so you can see the same thread on the web and on your phone.
To keep Avay's answers short and relevant, older parts of a conversation are summarized, and useful facts you have mentioned, for example that you prefer quiet restaurants or that your luggage was delayed, are kept as notes attached to the trip.
Your trips and messages are visible only to you when you are signed in. Our database enforces this per row, not just in the app.
How Avay uses artificial intelligence
Avay's replies are generated by a large language model run by an external provider. To answer you, we send that provider the current question, a short summary of the recent conversation, and the trip facts needed for the answer.
We do not send your password or your payment details. Facts such as flight status, places nearby and weather come from dedicated services rather than from the model, so Avay reports information rather than inventing it.
Who we share information with
Service providers who make Getavay work, each receiving only what their job needs: our hosting and database provider, our payment processor, the carrier that delivers your SMS, MMS and WhatsApp messages, the provider that runs the language model, and the flight, map, place, photo and weather services Avay draws on.
These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We may disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights and safety of people using Getavay. If Getavay is ever sold or merged, information may transfer as part of that business, and you would be told.
How we protect your information
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it. Verification codes are stored hashed, never as plain text, and expire quickly.
Webhooks from our payment and messaging providers are cryptographically verified before anything is acted on, so a forged request cannot change your trip or send messages as Avay.
No service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your information we will tell you as required by law.
Cookies and browser storage
We use cookies to keep you signed in. Without them, you would have to sign in on every page.
We store small preferences in your browser, such as whether you chose light or dark and whether the sidebar is collapsed. These stay on your device.
We do not use advertising cookies or third party trackers.
Your choices
You can edit your name, time zone, photo and preferred channel on the Account page, and choose which kinds of proactive message Avay sends you, including quiet hours.
You can stop text messages at any time by replying STOP, or by turning that channel off in your notification settings.
You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@getavay.com.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account information while your account is open, so past trips stay available to you.
You can close your account from the Account page. Closing it deletes your profile, your photo, your trips and your messages with Avay. This cannot be undone.
Some records are kept longer where the law requires it, for example payment records kept for tax and accounting purposes. Backups are cycled out on a rolling schedule.
Children's privacy
Getavay is not for children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and accounts require you to be 18 or older.
If you believe a child has given us information, email support@getavay.com and we will delete it.
California residents
If you live in California, you may ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to delete it, and ask us to correct it. Getavay does not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California law.
We will not treat you differently for exercising these rights. Email support@getavay.com to make a request.
Email from Getavay is about your account and your trips: confirmations, password resets and service notices. We do not send marketing email you did not ask for, and anything promotional we do send in future will carry an unsubscribe link that works.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will make a reasonable effort to tell you.
